Demonstration

ZBK, Krakow Demo Site, Poland

Demonstration installation of the installation under the RESHeat project is made for the building located at ul. Działkowa in Krakow.

It is a relatively new estate of 4 residential buildings put into use in June 2013. All buildings have central heating installations and hot water powered by gas boiler houses – there is a separate boiler room for each building.

A demonstration installation will be made for the building at ul. Działkowa 26. It is a multi-family building with 24 apartments, with a total usable area of over 1190 m2. It will be a good building for comparing the project results, because next to it there are 3, almost identical buildings, built at the same time and with the same technology.

Main Components of the RESHeat system for the ZBK demo site are as follow:

  • Sun tracking solar collectors, 8 units, 30.4 kWp – thermal
  • Stationary PV panels, 68 units, 30 kWp – electrical
  • Sun-tracking PV/T panels, 24 units, 5.6 kWp – thermal and 10.36 kWP – electrical
  • Underground heat storage tank, 1 unit, 50 cubic meter
  • Ground heat exchanger, 15 units, 100 meter each
  • Heat pump, 1 unit, 95 kW for heating capacity and 60 kW for cooling capacity
  • Buffer tanks, 2 units, 1000 L and 500 L
  • Others: Measuring equipment (heat meters, flow meters, pyranometers, anemometers, hygrometers, temperature, sensors in each apartment, temperature sensors in the ground
  • Data acquisition system
  • Control system

Current progress of the ZBK Demo Site

Completed Installations

The construction is started with PV modules provided by ELFRAN company. The PV rack is firstly installed on the roof of the building by the CZAMARA company. The 68 PV modules are installed on this rack, and the inverter is placed at the demo site waiting for the connection to the electrical grid system. The roof support for sun-tracking solar collectors is constructed by ELFRAN company. Ground source heat pump RE76 is delivered by OILON.

Ongoing Installations

The ongoing installations are:

  • 8x parabolic trough solar collectors are produced and waiting for installation,
  • Part of the two sun-tracking units for PV/T modules have been developed,
  • PV/T system holder is prepared,
  • The cooling system is produced for the two sun-tracking PV/T systems.

Planned Installations

The planned installation for the demo site:

  • Construction of solar collectors on the roof of the building,
  • Sun-tracking PV/T system should be completed,
  • Installation of the measuring equipment such as heat meters, flow meters, sensors, and pyranometers.
  • Ground heat exchanger and ground heat storage unit installation,
  • Buffer tank, heat pump, and hydraulic installation,
  • Installation of the control system,
  • Connection of PV and PV/T systems to the grid.

Top-Cezar V, Limanowa Demo Site, Poland

The RESHeat system is being developed at Top-Cezar V, Limanowa demo site and is planned to cover the energy demand of the one storey of the building, which consists of a multi-family storey with nine apartments.

Main Components of the RESHeat system for Top-Cezar V, Limanowa demo site are as follow:

  • Sun tracking solar collectors, 8 units, 15 kWp – thermal
  • Stationary PV panels, 44 units, 19.4 kWp – electrical
  • Sun-tracking PV/T panels, 24 units, 5.6 kWp – thermal and 10.36 kWP – electrical
  • Underground heat storage tank, 1 unit, 50 cubic meter
  • Ground heat exchanger, 5 units, 100 meter each
  • Heat pump, 1 unit, 42 kW for heating capacity and 29 kW for cooling capacity
  • Buffer tanks, 2 units, 500 L
  • Others: Measuring equipment (heat meters, flow meters, pyranometers, anemometers, hygrometers, temperature, sensors in each apartment, temperature sensors in the ground
  • Data acquisition system
  • Control system

Current Progress Of The Top-Cezar V, Limanowa

Completed Installations

the installation of the PV modules rack and 34 PV modules with an output power of 15 kWp are completed. Another rack is produced by ELFRAN company for ten more PVs. After the preparation of the rack, PV modules will be installed. Sun-tracking solar collectors on the roof of the building is constructed by the ELFRAN company. The OILON company delivered the heat pump RE 33 with a heating capacity of 42 kW to the CZAMARA company. The RE 33 heat pump is transferred to the Top-Cezar V demo site in order to complete the hydraulic connections. The CZAMARA company delivered the buffer tanks, each 500 L, and completed the hydraulic system connection. A drill hole is opened to connect the cables and the piping system of the underground heat storage and PV-T system.

Ongoing Installations

The ongoing installations are:

  • The PV module holder system of the two sun-tracking systems is prepared.
  • The permission is granted to install the ground heat exchangers and ground heat storage unit; therefore, installation is ongoing.
  • The production of a cooling system for PV/T modules is ongoing.

The Planned Installations

The planned installation for the demo site:

  • 10x PV module installation with the rack,
  • Sun-tracking PV/T system should be completed,
  • Installation of the measuring equipment such as heat meters, flow meters, sensors, and pyranometers.
  • Installation of the control system,
  • Connection of PV and PV/T systems to the grid,
  • Hydraulic connection of the PV/T system to the RESHeat components.

Control System of Heat Pump Applied to Poland Demo sites - By Oilon

Oilon has been developing RE – series heat pump family and delivered heat pumps for two demo sites in Limanowa and Krakow where a new heating and domestic hot water system will cover at least 70% of the total yearly energy demand of a building from a renewable energy source

-New RE-heat pump enables

(a) a higher temperature output, higher performance and better efficiency, than traditional heat pumps.

(b) Sound technical improvements

-New automation has been developed for user friendly interface and for support of selected piping configurations.
